Marina Subirats, Professor of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona was a researcher for many years, the ICE of the University. He has been Director General of the Institute for Women and has chaired the Equal Opportunities Commission of the European Union. He was also a Councillor for Education of the City of Barcelona. She is the author of numerous books and articles on Education and Gender. Of these, Pink and Blue, which marked a before and after the analysis of the mixed school was Balls of Amparo took joint authorship, Coeducation future issue, article the magazine "Educational Innovation Classroom," and his recent book "Women and men an impossible love?, authored with Manuel Castells.

ORGANIC REGULATION SCHOOLS AND PRIMARY EDUCATION AND EDUCATION INSTITUTES SECONDARY


X. Coordinating bodies teaching and guidance.


QUESTIONS:


a) In addition to the existing educational coordination bodies set out in the LEA, do you think that you should create another?, What, how the justified?, what skills?


Proposal

should be included at this point Coordinating Committee on Coeducation, existing from the 2005-2006 academic year in all schools supported with public funds Andalusian, whose purpose is to promote gender equity in education and community action, co-educational activities and projects in the community, aimed at education free of gender stereotypes, as stated in:




  1. The First Plan for Equality between men and women in education, approved by Governing Council on November 2, 2005 (BOJA number 227/2005 of 21 November)


Measure 2.3. Each center will be a professor or teacher in charge of co-education in whose dedication is considered as a merit promotion purposes in the relevant scales.




  1. The ORDER of May 15, 2006 , which will regulate and develop the actions and measures set out in the First Plan for Equality between Men and Women in Education in Articles 3 and 4 ( BOJA number 99/2006 of 25 May)


Article 3. Teaching special responsibility for co-education.


1. All centers will have a coordinator or a volunteer coordinator in the field of coeducation , with the aim of promoting equality between the sexes in the educational community.


2. The director of the center, a proposal from the Head of Studies, Faculty of Teaching heard, made the appointment and nomination to the relevant Provincial Office of Education, the coordinator or coordinator responsible on coeducation. Such designation shall be made between the academic staff of public schools or, where appropriate, between the permanent staff of the Ministry of Education Program Adult Education, preferably with experience in co-education. The appointment of this teacher or that teacher will have the validity of an academic year.


3. The functions of the coordinator or the coordinator in charge of co-education shall be:


a) Promote a diagnosis the center to know their reality with regard to equality between men and women, identifying discrimination and stereotypes.


b) To propose to the Senate and the School Board educational measures to correct situations of gender inequality that have been identified. These measures and their development should be reflected in the Annual Plan Center.


c) Work with the person skilled in gender is integrated into the School Board and, where appropriate, with the teacher or the teacher who teaches the elective course "Social Change and New Relationships Gender. "


d) Make a report on the development and degree of global development at the center of the measures outlined in the First Plan for Equality between Men and Women in Education, which appear to reflect the proposals for improvement following year. This report will be included in the Final Report of course the center.


e) Work with the Guidance Department or, where appropriate, with the Head of Studies, Programming Tutorial Action Plan of the center, with the inclusion of co-educational tutorials, including which will include those aimed at prevention gender-based violence as an academic and professional without gender bias.


f) Cooperate with the school management in mediation and conflict resolution on respect for equality between the sexes.


g) Attend and participate in those training activities to convene them, related to co-educational practices and development of the Roadmap for Equality between Men and Women in Education.






  1. Law 12/2007 26 November, to promote gender equality in Andalusia , which in Article 15, devoted to the promotion of gender equality in schools, is included:


article 15.2 . The Education Authority will ensure that Andalusian all schools have a person responsible for coeducation , with specific training which promotes gender equality and facilitate a better understanding of the obstacles and discrimination that impede full equality between women and men through activities and activities aimed at:


a) To make visible and recognize the contribution of women in different facets of history, science, politics, culture and society development.


b) Ensure that students acquire appropriate training to promote personal autonomy and the knowledge and skills to share domestic responsibilities and family care, and help eliminate sexist behaviors and attitudes.


c) Incorporate learning non-violent methods for conflict resolution and coexistence model based on diversity and on respect for equality between women and men, and display to the students to groups of women in situations of multiple discrimination.


d) To promote occupational diversification as a means of promoting academic and professional choices freely and as a means of phasing out the vertical and horizontal occupational segregation.


e) advise the teachers in the implementation of activities or projects of equality.


f) Promote respect for freedom of sexual orientation and the rejection of all forms of violence or sexual assault.


All this, taken in our recent legislation, has led to the recognition of other regions, calling him a pioneer in advancing measures of gender equality education.


However, while progress has been made, we are still far from achieving a co-educational centers in both the school organization as the curriculum itself, are specifically aimed at the elimination of gender stereotypes that lead to inequality of opportunity and gender violence. Therefore, it is believed imperative that you pick up educational coordination figure on coeducation, to which reference has been made, so that is collected, also in that document, "the firm commitment to equality our region, and further progress in line to transform the educational projects of each school community "coeducational Projects" that are configured as " specific equality plans" for each school.
